Favorite Place: Tokyo, Japan

Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan

My favorite place that I haven't visited yet is Japan, specifically Tokyo. I was supposed to go there for a month this past summer, but once COVID-19 hit during spring break I had to cancel my plans. This photo is of a street in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo, showing off the liveliness of the city at night. It was taken in the red-light district of Kabukicho.

  1. I hope you will get to go to Japan soon, Aaron! I know they are struggling right now trying to decide about the Olympics; so many hopes and plans and dreams in turmoil with the COVID. But maybe you can do some Japanese-related projects for these classes. Japanese folktales and mythology is an obvious topic for the Myth-Folklore class, and Japan could also make a great topic for Indian Epics because of the way that so many of the Indian gods and their stories are familiar in Japan but also different; here is a video about that: Why 80% of Japanese God come from Hinduism

  2. Oh! I can definitely tell how much you want to go! Tokyo sounds amazing and I definitely wanna go there as well. COVID19 sucks for ruining all of our plans. Shinjuku looks very busy; I cannot imagine being around that many people just cus we are so used to social distancing. I hope you will be able to go one day!

  3. Hi Aaron! I too would like to visit Japan someday, but I think I need to learn more about it before going so I can get the most out of my trip. I know some of the history and culture, but I want to understand what I am seeing on for any monuments or natural features, and I want to make sure I know how to act with the correct customs and respect. This sounds super basic, but I love sushi, so I would love to try authentic Japanese sushi as well as new foods!
